Every day in August 2022, I looked at the moon and drew what I saw with ink on paper. This is the result of those observations.

Still from Maryanne Coutts, Moon Watching 2022, a time lapse video

Moon Watching can be seen in BACKSPACE PROJECTS and the NAS Library reception area from Wednesday 1 May 2024, both as the drawings Maryanne made each day and the time lapse video they were intended for.

Maryanne’s drawings will be installed in BACKSPACE one day at a time, following the current progress of the Moon, starting with the drawing of the waning gibbous moon of mid August 2022 to match the actual waning gibbous moon of early May 2024.

Concurrently on display at the NAS Library is an animated installation of the Moon Watching drawing project. Look up, and see these drawings in motion.
