Based at Hill End, a four hour drive from Sydney, you will be able to identify and develop your own projects in response to this historic gold mining precinct.

Drawing i.e. thinking with materials in hand, will underpin the program. Choice of mediums will vary with each participant, during initial research up to final project, ranging from various dry mediums to watercolours. Experimental alternatives will be encouraged. You will need to bring your own materials, paper etc. Boards and outdoor easels can be borrowed from the Drawing Department.

Accommodation: Comfortable and affordable accommodation is available at the conveniently located Hill End Holiday Ranch. There is a refrigerator where food can be stored. For a modest fee, the School will provide full catering of all meals during the program. $25 per head per night for twin-share bunk rooms; upgrades available at an increased cost. As the program commences on Monday morning you are advised to book accommodation in Hill End on Sunday night.  The workshop will conclude after lunch on Thursday, but you may wish to stay and work for another night.

Meals: $80 per head covers all meals from Monday lunch until Thursday lunch inclusive. Catering will be taken care of. YOU SHOULD BRING SOME BREAKFAST FOODS FOR MONDAY MORNING, as shops and cafes may not be open.

Transport: self- drive, about 4 hours via Bathurst. Shared vehicles recommended. There is no public transport.

Lecturer: Stephanie Monteith is a Sydney-based artist and NAS lecturer whose paintings and drawings extend the genres of portraiture, vanitas and landscape. She works across a wide range of painting and drawing media, including oil paint, watercolour and pencil.
