Located six hours’ drive north of Sydney, Walcha is a farming town with a strong community of contemporary artists, set among the rolling hills of the New England region.
This workshop will provide the opportunity to work at Rams Gully, the farm that is the home and working base of artist and teacher Ross Laurie. Rams Gully is 10km from the centre of town, and was, until the recent drought, a working farm for sheep and cattle.
This workshop runs from Monday to Thursday not Tuesday to Friday.
You will be able to book tickets from 9:30am on Friday 5 February.
Lecturer: Ross Laurie
Location: Rams Gully
Equipped with a large studio for visitors, it will be the primary location of the workshop, enabling access to a stimulating environment. You will be able to explore the farm and find your own response through drawing, with your own materials. Visits will also be made to local sites including the Apsley Falls.
There are costs associated with this workshop.
It will be necessary to make your way to Walcha in your own car, or share a vehicle.
You will also need to pay for food and accommodation.
For food: $60 per head covers all meals from Monday lunch until Thursday lunch inclusive. Catering will be taken care of at the Walcha Caravan Park.
The recommended accommodation will be at the Walcha Caravan Park, which offers cabins and sites where you can pitch a tent. There is a kitchen and dining area where breakfast, lunch and evening meals will be prepared by/for the group, and toilets/showers.
